MUK to investigate Vice Chancellor’s academic papers

Makerere University Council resolved to set up a committee of eminent persons to investigate claims that Professor Venansius Baryamureeba   the acting vice chancellor was appointed based on faked papers.

A council meeting on Thursday, heard that  Eng. Dr. Charles Wana Etyem, the chairperson Makerere university council  received a letter from Professor E. Katunguka Rwakishaya, challenging the promotion of Dr. Venansius Baryamureeba as Professor of Computer Science, before he became appointed as the acting vice chancellor.

Etyem said that professor Katunguka requested the board of Makerere University to rescind their decision.

Ritah Namisango, the university public relations officer, said in a statement issued to the media shortly after the council meeting that the council mandated Eng. Dr. Charles Wana Etyem to set up a committee of eminent persons outside Makerere University to assess the authenticity of the allegations.

Namisango said the council also received professor Baryamureeba’s defense in writing.
