Uganda Cranes first choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango has said he is motivated and ready ahead of the 2017 CAF Super Cup this evening at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria, South Africa.
Onyango is expected to start in goal for the 2016 CAF Champions League winners, Mamelodi Sundowns against the 2016 CAF Confederations Cup winners, TP Mazembe (DR Congo).
“Playing in-front of our fans will be good. But I also want to be at my best to help the team win another silverware,” said Onyango.
The Ugandan, fresh from the 2017 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) said however that they are facing a strong team that has won several trophies in Africa. “We need to respect them and play with a lot of caution,” he said.
TP Mazembe who have won the Super Cup three times (2010, 2011, 2016), Sundowns will only be making their first appearance in the final.
While Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane will look to Onyango’s good form and Khama Billiat’s hunger for goals, TP Mazembe’s newly appointed Frenchman Thierry Froger will hope that Rainford Kalaba can produce the magic to guide the team to victory.
