Police in Kabale is hunting for a man in his 20’s for allegedly pouring acid on his aunt.

Collins Tindyebwa is said to have poured acid on Vasta Tumwesigye on Friday night burning his face and chest beyond recognition. The two are residents of Rutooma cell Nyabikoni ward northern division, Kabale Municipality.

Sarah Nahabwe, a daughter to the victim says that Tindyebwa  had paid them a visit at around 10pm. However, as he prepared to leave, he pulled a big bottle of acid and poured it out to the aunt before taking off. The victim is admitted at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital in Critical condition.

Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi region confirmed the incident saying that once the suspect who is on the run is arrested, he will appear before court to answer charges of attempted murder.

This is not the first time such an incident happening in Kigezi region. In November 2016 Joseph Ntiringanye, a resident of nyahatwa village in Kisoro district was jailed for 30 years for pouring acid on Thomas Nsabimana, an offense he committed on  February 26 2012.

In April 2013, Robert Mugwiza a resident of Mubuga cell, Gitenderi Parish, Nyarusiza Sub County in kisoro district poured acid on his mother-in-law Kezia Nsigayehe of the same residence and took off.

In April 2012, Royce Musiimenta` aged 24 years, and Kesande Rovis aged 20 years were poured on acid while working at Gas Petro station in Nyamirama trading center, Kanungu District. The unknown attacker pretended to had come to buy paraffin before pouring acid on the victims.
