Uganda Cranes hold Senegal in Dakar

Uganda Cranes drew goalless with 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) quarter finalists Senegal in an International friendly played this morning in Dakar.

In the absence of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane who is out injured, the home side still had stars like Mame Birame Diouf, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ismaila Sarr and experienced goalkeeper Pape Seydou feature.

The two teams created chances, but the finished was lacking. “I am glad that we faced a good side and coordinated well. But we must improve on the attacking aspect in the remaining few days,” coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic told this publication.

Sredojevic gave KCCA FC players Benjamin Ochan, Isaac Muleme, and in-form Derrick Nsibambi playing time, while South African based goalkeeper Denis Onyango was rested.

It was the second draw for the Cranes in a few days after they also settled for a 0-0 draw at the Hawassa Stadium against Ethiopia on Saturday.

The national team used the two international build-up matches to prepare ahead of a 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Cape Verde on Saturday.

The other nations in Group L of the qualifiers include Tanzania and Lesotho.
