Stray bullet injures one in Amuru
Lt. Hasssan Ahmed Kato, the UPDF 4th division spokesperson, says the victim was hit by stray bullet by bad luck as Police reinforced by soldiers fired in the air.

37-year- old Simon Ocitti, a resident of Pabbo Sub County in Amuru district is nursing gunshot wounds after being hit by a stray bullet. Ocitti was hit on the left arm as he returned home after shaving hair at Pabbo trading center.

The bullet was fired by Police as they dispersed an irate mob that had followed MPs Gilbert Olanya, Anthony Akol, and Amuru LC V Chairman, Michael Lakony to Pabbo Police post on Tuesday afternoon.

The three leaders stormed the police post demanding the unconditional release of seven residents picked up in connection with an attack on a Zawadi bus registration number UAU 708L destine for Adjumani district on Monday afternoon.

Cadet Officer Happy Joseph Mumbere, the officer in charge of Pabbo police post, says the seven suspects were picked up to help police investigate the attack on Zawadi bus. He says the residents smashed the windscreen of the bus on the conductor’s seat as it stopped to load a passenger at Pabbo trading center.

He says police used teargas to disperse residents and rescue the bus. None of the passengers was injured. According to Mumbere, Ocitti was injured after he attacked a soldier on seeing the two legislators and the Amuru district chairperson. He says the bullet brushed his left arm. Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South Member of Parliament denies inciting residents to attack security personnel.
