Uber in Kampala Monday 9th, October 2017 treated riders to free ‘Rolex’ treat as part of an on demand campaign to delight Uber riders. The campaign which ran for only 4 hours (10am – 4pm) and was accessible to Uber riders within Kampala.
Commenting on the activity, Uber’s Country Manager in Uganda, Aaron Tindiseega said, “At Uber, we are always looking for innovative, engaging and creative ways to generate excitement amongst our riders and driver-partners – they are after all, the reason we do what we do. At the touch of a button between 10am and 2pm today, Uber riders received a delicious, hot treat of Rolex without having to leave the comfort of their homes on Independence Day.”
In order to get a bite of the delicious Rolex all that riders were expected to do was to simply open the app during the 10am-2pm time window, tap the UberRolex banner at the bottom of their screen and request an UberRolex. If the request was successful, an Uber ride arrived at their location with a free Rolex.
“Whilst we would like as many riders to benefit from this campaign, the free rolex will be available on a first come – first served basis. Only riders who are able to successfully request for the Rolex will be able to receive the order” added Mr. Tindiseega
This on demand campaign follows similar stunts that Uber has done within East Africa. In Kenya and Uganda Uber has had UberChoma an on-demand that saw riders in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kampala receive free Nyama Choma. In Tanzania, riders were treated to a whole pizza through another on-demand campaign dubbed UberPizza.
“We know that one of the things that defines us most, even in the cities, is our culture. This UberRolex is just one way of celebrating the vibrant Uganda culture and connecting with our riders and driver- partners in a memorable way,” concluded Tindiseega.
