Uganda: Falling electric pole kills crime preventer

A falling electric pole has killed a crime preventer identified as Robert Kibogo.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning along Bananuka drive in Kakooba division in Mbarara Municipality.

Kibogo was a resident of Rwentondo in Kakooba division and has been working with Kakooba Police post in Mbarara Municipality.

Julius Tugumizemu, an eye witness believes the pole gave way because it was rotten. Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Commander, says they are investigating the matter.

Umeme has not yet commented on the matter as the officials remained tight-lipped on the incident.

It can be recalled early this year, a woman identified as Rose Kayinga Kigozi, a teacher at Kabojja International School was rescued from an accident wreck after a transformer crashed on top of her moving car.

The incident happened along Dewinton road near former Shimoni Primary school in Kampala. She was rescued and rushed to Mulago Hospital in critical condition, with serious injuries including a broken arm and ribs.
