Police is still investigating circumstances under which two suspected thugs attacked a businesswoman in Bweyogerere, a Kampala suburb hacked her and then took off with money.

Two armed men were last evening tracked and killed by the police after officers chased them from Bweyogerere to Namanve. Preliminary investigations reveal that the two suspects attacked Josephine Agaba Rwabyona at her shop, cut her using a panga and made away with Shs 180,000 and $100.

The attackers went to a nearby car washing bay and also stole a Toyota Premio motor vehicle to get away. Kampala Metropolitan Police commander Frank Mwesigwa says police was informed of the attack and began chasing after the suspects.

“We pursued them and when they realised we were catching up with them, they abandoned the vehicle and got on a motorcycle,” Mwesigwa said.

The suspects were shot dead as they tried to escape on a hijacked motorcycle. Police recovered an AK-47 riffle, a panga believed to have been used to attack Rwabyona, gloves, hoods, knives among others.

Rwabyona has been taken to Mulago hospital for medical attention while the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mulago city mortuary.
