Bobi Wine's Return: Army, Police erect road block on Entebbe Road
As Bobi Wine Returns: Heavy deployment of Uganda Police and the army have erected road-blocks in Kampala and Entebbe road since last evening

Uganda Police Force and the army have erected a road block in Kajjansi along Kampala – Entebbe road ahead of the scheduled return of Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament.

Kyagulanyi is expected to arrive at Entebbe International Airport Thursday morning from the U.S where he had gone for treatment after being brutalized by the military during the Arua Municipality parliamentary by-elections last month.

Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima told journalists on Wednesday that they had obtained intelligence showing that Kyagulanyi’s supporters are planning to hold an illegal procession in the guise of welcoming him.

Kayima noted that police will not allow the processions since it hasn’t been cleared by the Inspector General of Police in line with the Public Order Management Act.

He said only Kyagulanyi’s family will be allowed to welcome him, adding that police will provide the legislator security to escort him to his home in Magere in Waksio district.

As a result, the army and police have deployed heavily along Entebbe road especially at the Kajjansi round about where 8 police trucks are stationed.

By 10:48pm on Wednesday night, police had erected a road block at Kajjansi. The officers were screening each vehicle driving through the checkpoint, which led to a heavy traffic jam.

Traffic started building up from Mild May hospital in Sseguku to Kajjansi-Entebbe expressway round about. Our reported also observed heavy deployment in Mpala, Kitooro, Katabi and Kisubi suburbs in Entebbe Municipality.

On Wednesday morning, the Entebbe District Police Commander, Mission Samuel said the Deployment was normal and meant to beef up security in Entebbe.

However, earlier on the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Luke Oyowesigire said Police is on high alert ahead of Kyagulanyi’s return.
