Three LDUs arrested for murder of herdsmen
The three LDUs reportedly shot dead a 10-year-old boy only identified as Apalocolut of Nakapelimoru Sub County, Kotido district and two others; Lopus Apanaleso, 27 and Lotoya Rengetau 25, residents of Panyangara Sub County and Kotido Municipality respectively.

Police in Abim district have arrested three Local Defense Unit (LDU) personnel for allegedly shooting dead three herdsmen in Alerek Sub County.

The suspects are Moses Otim 37, Steven Ongom 25 and Godfrey Ogwang 23.

The group reportedly shot dead a 10-year-old boy only identified as Apalocolut of Nakapelimoru Sub County, Kotido district, Lopus Apanaleso, 27 and Lotoya Rengetau 25, residents of Panyangara Sub County and Kotido Municipality respectively.

The LDUs attached to Otalabar Army Detach shot the herdsmen on Saturday at Otumpili village as they allegedly walked to their kraal. Police has since recovered 33 cartridges from the scene.

Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, the Abim Resident District Commissioner condemned the shooting. He said that the suspects will be handed to the army court-martial.

The LC3 chairperson Alerek Sub County, Charles Joshua Otoka has called for calm as police investigate the matter.
