Kampala, Uganda | URN | Several musicians have described Moses Ssekibogo aka Mowzey Radio as an inspirational artiste and a gift that God had blessed this country with.
The artistes were part of the hundreds of people that gathered at Rubaga Cathedral to eulogise fallen Mowzey Radio who died on Thursday, 10 days after after sustaining injuries during a bar fight in Entebbe.
Goodlyfe Crew musician Mowzey was pronounced dead at Case Hospital where he had spent a week treating head injuries that had caused a blood clot in his brain.
At Rubaga Cathedral, the church was filled to capacity, with hundreds of mourners standing outside to eulogise the deceased. Others sat on tree branches, while several business people moved around selling Mowzey Radio T-shirts, calendars, charts and jewellery among others.
Many artists who attended the Mass called for justice when they were given an opportunity to speak, but emphasised that Mowzey ran a good race.
Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine had his message read to the congregation by veteran artiste John Segawa. He said Mowzey Radio was an icon and a shining star, whose life was cut short.
He called for thorough investigations into the death of the musician.
Kyagulanyi said the life and talent of Mowzey Radio should be emulated, adding that he was a unique artiste. He said the deceased’s songs are undoubtedly unique and appealing to the youths.
Musician Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleon, whose brother Weasel (Douglas Mayanja) was working with Mowzey, said the deceased artiste has not died but has returned home. He said he was more than a brother to artistes in the country.
Weasel described the demise of his music partner as the saddest moment of his life, saying they started with nothing, but now he has gone.
Jane Kasuba, Mowzey Radio’s mother thanked the country for standing with her son at such a trying moment.
In an interview with veteran musician Ragga Dee, he said Mowzey Radio is irreplaceable and it’s unfortunate his life was cut short. He says Government should do justice and apprehend those responsible.
Other artistes present at the mass were Dr Hilderman, Eddy Kenzo, Sheebah Karungi,Wilson Bugembe, Mama Fina, and Catherine Kusasira among others.
His family members present at the mass included his brother Frank Ssekibogo, sisters Nagujja Fatuma, Nabale Nurian, and Nalwadda Aisha. His partners Jennifer Robinson, Mbabazi Lilian, and Karen Ambro Gammeltof were also present and so were his children children Ssekibogo Leo Njovu, Kayuvu Lialie Ssekibogo, Theo Kingsley Ssekibogo and Ayana Kazoba Ssekigobo.

Moses Ssekibogo was born on January 25, 1983. He went to Kibuye Public School, Ndeeba for his primary education, Lake View Secondary School in Jinja and Kiira College Butiki for his Ordinary and Advanced levels. He later on enrolled at Makerere University where he pursued a degree in community psychology, graduating in 2008.
The Burial will be tomorrow at 4pm at Kagga, Nakawuka in Wakiso district.
