Arua district registered the highest number of crime in West Nile region in the month of April. According to the West Nile Region crime report, Arua district registered 427 cases, followed by Zombo in second place 177 cases and Nebbi in third place with 114 cases.
Koboko district registered 111 cases, Pakwach 96 cases and Maracha 86 cases. According to the report, thefts topped the list of crime with 287 cases, general crimes including malicious damage and criminal trespass came second with 256 cases, assault 140 cases, house breaking 58 houses and 57 sex related cases.
Others include murder with 22 cases, economic crime 83 cases, 42 child related cases, 37 robbery cases, 23 special law cases, 3 narcotic cases and 1 political and media case.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Region Police Spokesperson, says the crime rates registered in April are less compared to 1023 cases registered in March 2018. She says they are currently sensitizing residents on community policing in all parishes unlike in the past when they stopped at the sub county level.
