Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital lacks a Tuberculosis (TB) ward.
TB patients admitted at the facility have no option but to share wards with other patients, risking the spread of the disease.
Florence Tugumenawe, a Tuberculosis (TB) patient says that she was sharing a room with other patients.
Tugumenawe says that the facility should have a separate ward for TB patients to avoid other patients from contracting infections.
The Principal Hospital Administrator Okello Odeke says that the lack of the TB ward is as a result of inadequate space at the facility.
Odeke adds that other patients who live with those who have active Tuberculosis (TB) infections are at a higher risk.
He also says that TB patients usually spend long time in facilities and that the government is currently encouraging the use of Tuberculosis Directly observed treatment. This involves monitoring Tuberculosis (TB) patients while at home.
