A 27-year-old notorious thief in Kilembe Sub County in Kasese district has committed suicide, five days after he had been on the run.

John Mbusa alias Franco’s body was on Thursday afternoon found hanging on a mango tree in Bukangama village, Kilembe Sub County in Kasese district.

Mbusa had been on the run after he broke into his father’s house and stole two sacks of coffee.

According to Wilson Mubyalhaba, the deceased’s elder brother, Mbusa was wanted for a series of theft offences he had committed in a space of less than two months.

Mubyalhaba revealed that his brother had not yet spent two months out of prison where he had served a two-year sentence on similar charges.

He said the deceased could have committed suicide because he did not want to return to prison having committed a series of crimes including theft, burglary and drug abuse.

Annet Kyakimwa Mubyalhaba, the sister to the deceased, said the continuous consumption of alcohol and abuse of drugs affected his life.
