Police orders closure of all Home Bet, Game Bet branches in Uganda
The order followed an operation that established that the two companies Home Bet and Game Bet had been operating without licenses, contrary to section 26 and 27 of the Lotteries and Gaming Act of 2016.

The Police Directorate of Criminal Investigations has ordered for the closure of all branches of Home Bet and Game Bet betting companies across the Country.

The order followed an operation that established that the two companies had been operating without licenses. The operation conducted by officials from the National Gaming Board and police discovered that the two were operating without licenses contrary to section 26 and 27 of the Lotteries and Gaming Act of 2016.

According to the Deputy Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the police commanders across the country have been tasked to locate the different branches of the companies and close them.

The Directors of the two companies are also wanted by Police to face charges of operating a gaming company without an operating license. Upon conviction, one can be fined a fine of 48 currency points (960,000 Shillings) or an imprisonment not exceeding two years.
