Witch doctor arrested for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old patient

Wakiso, Uganda | URN | A witch doctor in Wakiso district is in trouble for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old patient.

The suspect is 63-year-old Julius Kule, a resident of Kitubulu in Katabi town Council in Wakiso District.

He was picked up on Tuesday 20th evening when the minor’s father, Ismail Baraka filed a complaint at Entebbe Police Station.

In her statement, the minor told police that the suspect repeatedly defiled her between February and July when she was taken to his shrine for treatment for epilepsy.

According to preliminary information, after the minor was diagnosed with epilepsy, her parents were advised to take her to the witch doctor for treatment.

It is alleged that Kule advised the parents to let the minor sleep in her shrine as he administers treatment.

It is during this time that he would take the minor to the forest at night where he would sexually assault her, saying it was part of medication.

“This all happened whenever he called me to go to Katabi, Gombolola forest. He removed my clothes and asked me to lie on the ground. He inserted his genitals into my private parts,” the minor said.

Onesmus Mwesigwa, the Officer in Charge of Criminal investigations at Entebbe Police Station, says they have opened charges of aggravated defilement against Kule and forwarded the file to the Directorate of Public prosecution in Entebbe for perusal and advise before he appears in court.
