Soroti, Uganda | URN | Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) party president has thrown his weight behind Moses Attan Okia, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate for the Soroti East by-election.
Mr Kyagulanyi joined Atan’s last campaign rally in Moruapesur ward on Tuesday 26, July evening. He said that the opposition parties are stronger together and will work hard to ensure that Attan reclaims his seat.
The former presidential candidate urged all the opposition forces to unite to be able to realize an impact on the political struggle.
Mr Kyagulanyi told thousands of voters in Soroti that he is not surprised by what he described as the desperate attempts by the ruling party to bribe and silence the opposition.
He was alluding to the defection of some NUP leaders in Teso to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) on Monday 25th during President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign rallies for the party candidate Herbert Edmund Ariko in Soroti.
Mr Kyagulanyi told residents to distance themselves from leaders who have betrayed their trust.
The three candidates for the Soroti East by-election are; FDC’s Moses Attan Okia, Herbert Edmund Ariko of NRM, and Pascal Amuriat of Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) are boasting of a landslide victory during the Thursday 28, July poll.

The Court of Appeal nullified Attan’s victory over the boundary demarcation that wrongfully annexed Aloet and Opiyai wards into the Soroti West constituency.
The campaigns ended Tuesday, July 26, 2022, just a day before the polls. In the mop-up campaigns, all the candidates moved throughout the constituency with major rallies at Arrow Square, Pioneer ward for the NRM, and Moruapesur for the FDC camp.
