Nairobi, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | In a shocking turn of events, Nairobi’s popular socialite, Starlet Wahu Mwangi, was discovered murdered in an Airbnb where she had checked in with a man believed to be her boyfriend.
The chilling incident unfolded on January 3 when Wahu and her suspected murderer were seen entering the Airbnb in South B. Tragically, a postmortem examination on Friday unveiled horrifying details surrounding her demise.
Wahu had been strangled, and a deep-cut wound on her thigh had severed a vein, resulting in a substantial loss of blood that claimed her life.
Suspicion arose when a security guard noticed the suspected murderer leaving the premises the next day, wearing bloodied clothing and appearing injured in the leg.
Upon entering the house, the property owner and the security guard discovered Wahu’s naked and lifeless body in the sitting room, indicating signs of a struggle. Police recovered a knife, two HIV test kits, and one used condom at the scene.

The postmortem report later confirmed that Wahu had bled to death due to the severe leg wound. The suspect, who had fled the scene, was eventually apprehended at a city hospital, seeking medical attention for injuries sustained during the altercation. He claimed self-defense, stating that Wahu had attacked him, leading to a tragic and fatal outcome.
The ongoing investigation aims to unravel the motive behind this horrific murder, while CCTV footage provides a glimpse into the final moments of Wahu’s life, capturing the seemingly joyful entry into the apartment that tragically ended in a devastating loss.
