Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | At Jinja Road Police Station, a female Probation Police Constable (PPC) is currently in custody for the alleged fatal stabbing of her Prisons lover to death following a domestic dispute at the Prisons Academy and Training School on Sunday 18, February 2024.
The accused, Mercy Alowo, who completed a police basic course three months ago and was undergoing practical training at Jinja Road Police Division, reportedly stabbed Lance Corporal prison warder Wilfred Okori, leading to his tragic death moments later.
According to Prisons spokesperson Mr. Frank Baine, Okori passed away Sunday evening, shortly after being rushed to Luzira Staff Clinic.

The prison security apprehended Alowo and turned her over to the police for further handling. Baine mentioned, “The victim is from Apac district, while the culprit hails from Totoro. Everything possible will be done to ensure that justice is served.”
It’s worth noting that in 2022, over 10 police officers took their own lives, with infidelity cited as one of the major contributing factors.
