Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Over the weekend, loved ones of the late city tycoon and socialite Ivan Semwanga gathered to honor his memory and pray for his soul.
Among them was his ex-wife, Zari Hassan, who took to social media to express her heartfelt tribute to the fallen socialite, Ivan Semwanga revealing her enduring love for him.
“7 years seems like yesterday. May Allah continue resting you in peace. We will always love you,” Zari wrote in her Instagram message shared with a photo of Semwanga, their three sons and herself .
In 2017, Ivan Semwanga tragically passed away due to a heart attack while receiving medical care at Steve Biko Hospital in Pretoria. His ex-wife, Zari Hassan, was by his side during his final moments, which occurred on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
On the day of his passing, Zari turned to her social media platforms to express her deep sorrow and admiration for him, offering heartfelt praises as she mourned his loss.
“God loves those that are special and that’s exactly who you were and I guess that’s why he wanted you to himself. You have touched and helped thousands, you did wonders and I remember you telling me “life is too short Zee let me live it to the fullest”, this very dark hour it makes sense why you always said those words to me. To your sons, you were a hero-some kind of superman. Anyone who has ever been in your presence knows what a charming person you were. You will be missed and remembered in so many ways. You were IVAN THE GREAT!.”

Zari Hassan was not only Ivan Semwanga’s wife but also the mother of his children, with whom she shared a close bond until his passing. Together, they had three children: Pinto, Raphael, and Quincy.
After Ivan’s death, Zari embarked on a new chapter in her life. A year later, she formalized her relationship with the well-known Tanzanian singer, Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, professionally known as Diamond Platnumz.

During her time with Diamond Platnumz, she welcomed two children, Princess Tiffah Dangote and Prince Nillan, before their separation in 2018. Despite facing challenges, Zari explored various relationships with different individuals, though none endured.
However, in 2023, Zari found lasting love once again in Shakib Cham. The self-proclaimed “Bosslady” and Shakib exchanged vows, and their marriage remains strong to this day.
Zari Hassan’s heartfelt tribute not only honors her late husband, Ivan Semwanga, but also underscores the resilience and personal growth she has undergone on her journey.
