The bombings at Kampala Central Police Station (CPS), Digida Pork Joint in Komamboga, and Parliament Avenue near Jubilee Building resulted in the deaths of five civilians, including one police officer.

Two bomb blasts went off in the Central Business District of Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

Although three suicide bombers were killed in these attacks, security forces managed to apprehend many of their associates and accomplices.

The 2021 bombings prompted the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to launch an armed offensive against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Despite the UPDF’s presence in the DRC, ADF militants have continued their activities in Uganda, including killing more than 70 people in 2023.

Recently, security forces discovered abandoned bombs in a rented house in Komamboga. UPDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye reported that 14 ADF terrorists had infiltrated the country and suspected that Ddamulira, who has now been killed, was among them.

Brig Gen Kulayigye urged Ugandans to remain vigilant, as ADF terrorists could strike at any time.
