Kenyan man walks into church, poops on a statue of Jesus

Siaya, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | Police in Siaya County are investigating on an incident in which an unidentified man reportedly broke into a local Catholic Church and allegedly defecated on a statue of Jesus.

Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed that the event took place at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church Bondo.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for this act of vandalism.

“The heinous act was reported at Bondo police station by the parish priest, Rev. Father Edwin Obudho,” Kimaiyo said. 

Kimaiyo further noted that additional reports indicate the statue of Jesus, which had been positioned at the church altar, has been reported missing.

“Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was established that a stranger who was dressed in a black and white striped shirt and black trousers entered the church hall when a few congregants were deep in prayer,” Kimaiyo added.

The suspect reportedly went to the upper gallery, where he had hidden the statue. He then descended to the altar and took the statue.

“He then defecated on the statue before exiting the church. He hid the defaced statue underneath the pews,” police noted. 

Efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing.
