Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Police in Kampala have launched a manhunt for assailants on motorcycles who brazenly attacked an Indian businessman in broad daylight.

The robbery, caught on CCTV, happened on Monday 15, July 2024 at around noon at Eso Corner in Kampala’s city center.

“The victim, who has been identified as Mr. Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national and tour and travel company operator based at Crown House, Kampala Road, reported the incident to the Nkrumah Road Police Station,” said the Kampala Metropolitan’s deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire.

In the CCTV footage of the incident, a group of approximately eight assailants on four motorcycles exploited a traffic jam to assault an Indian businessman.

The victim was moving on a motorcycle (boda boda) and carrying a bag when he was surrounded and attacked.

The attackers proceeded to physically assault him, forcibly taking his bag before swiftly fleeing the scene.
