Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Uganda Airlines has announced the upcoming launch of new routes connecting Kampala, Uganda’s capital, with the capitals of Harare (Zimbabwe), Abuja (Nigeria), and Lusaka (Zambia) in September 2024.
At the launching ceremony on Wednesday 17, July 2024 in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, Jenifer Bamuturaki, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines, said that the new flights will increase Uganda’s connectivity to the rest of Africa.
“The launch of the new routes is a milestone in our continuous contribution to intra-African travel. The creation of an air bridge to West Africa and Southern Africa will bring convenience to travelers across the continent with direct flights and seamless connectivity, enabling multiple opportunities in business, trade, tourism, and socio-cultural linkages,” Bamuturaki said.
Flights to Abuja will start on 12 September, 2024, Lusaka starting on 25th September, 2024 and Harare starting on 25th September, 2024.

Officials anticipate these additions will enable the airline to achieve profitability within 18 months, with significant contributions expected from cargo revenue.
Uganda Airlines has also increased flight frequencies to Nairobi (Kenya) and Juba (South Sudan), now operating 19 daily departures from Entebbe International Airport, which accounts for 20% of the airport’s total traffic.
CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki noted that the new routes’ expansion coincides with the carrier’s milestone of five years in operation and the completion of a three-year strategic plan aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and optimizing fleet usage.
