Ugandan arrested after assaulting Kenyan friend over dance with girlfriend
A Ugandan man has been arrested following an attack on a Kenyan friend at a funeral, allegedly sparked by a dance with his girlfriend.

Namisindwa, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Police in Namisindwa District, in the Eastern Region of Uganda have arrested a 25-year-old man named Pyusi on charges of assaulting a Kenyan national after an altercation involving his girlfriend at a funeral.

Pyusi, from Manyali village in Bukokho Parish, is accused of attacking 26-year-old Toney Kisebe from a neighboring town during a funeral gathering around 10 PM on Monday 22, July 2024.

According to a witness Vetti Wambewo, Pyusi became enraged when he saw Kisebe dancing with his girlfriend.

In the ensuing confrontation, Pyusi allegedly used a panga to inflict four cuts to Kisebe’s head. Kisebe was promptly taken to a nearby clinic by local residents.

After the attack, Pyusi reportedly returned home and began assaulting his father, David Matufu, and destroying crops, including bananas and coffee. This reaction was apparently triggered by his father’s reprimand.
