GNL Zamba voices support for Uganda’s anti-corruption protests from the US

Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Rapper Earnest Nsimbi, popularly known as GNL Zamba, has disclosed that he has declined multiple offers from the government. This revelation came in response to a query by a user on X (formerly Twitter) regarding his apparent silence on the ongoing anti-corruption protests in the country.

In his reply, GNL Zamba explained that he has actively opposed corruption through various means, including his music. He highlighted his song “Uganda Yaffe” as a notable example of his commitment to addressing the issue.

“First artist to reject Tubonganawe project and money. Created an album about unity. Rejected several offers to join government. Song number nine  on my last album is about a people fed up with corruption,” he said.

“Career poet that represents and celebrates the culture of his people home and away but I still wake up in Los Angeles 10,000 miles away from home to this toxicity yet the people in the country affected directly left the streets empty,” GNL Zamba added.

While rapper GNL Zamba is currently in the US, he has expressed his unwavering support for the people of Uganda in their battle against corruption.

In a recent statement, Zamba emphasized that despite the distance, his thoughts and solidarity remain with his fellow Ugandans who are actively protesting against corruption.

This week, Ugandans took to the streets to voice their discontent with the country’s corruption issues.

The movement has seen widespread support, with celebrities like Allan Toniks, Azawi, and Ykee Benda using social media to stand in solidarity with the protesters.

These public figures have joined their fans in condemning corruption and poor governance, highlighting the broad support for the cause across various sectors of society.
