Activist Morara Kebaso arraigned at Milimani on cyber harassment charge.

Nairobi, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | In a landscape often marked by political inertia and societal challenges, young lawyer David Morara Kebaso has attracted a huge following for exposing alleged corruption and the misuse of public funds through fictitious or stalled projects in Kenya.

His fervent commitment to social justice, transparency, and democratic governance has garnered both local and international attention, positioning him as a transformative figure in the quest for a better Kenya.

Kebaso has attracted considerable public interest with his candid criticism of government inefficiencies, showcased in his popular video series titled “Vampire Diaries.” This series focuses on exposing mismanagement and the absence of accountability in the delivery of public services.

A voice for the voiceless

Morara Kebaso’s journey into activism began as a response to the pressing issues facing ordinary Kenyans. Disillusioned by systemic corruption, economic inequality, and inadequate access to basic services, the 28-year-old lawyer and activist took to the streets, amplifying the voices of those often left unheard.

His grassroots efforts have included organizing protests, participating in community dialogues, and leveraging social media to spread awareness and mobilize support.

His message is clear: change is not only necessary but also possible. Kebaso’s ability to connect with the youth, in particular, has been instrumental in building a passionate following.

He has encouraged young people to engage in political discourse, emphasizing that they are not just the leaders of tomorrow but of today.

A vision for a better Kenya

Kebaso’s vision for Kenya extends beyond mere political rhetoric. He advocates for policies that prioritize education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

Mr. Kebaso, who refers to himself as “bold and fearless” on social media, has recently stirred up government officials with his campaign focused on highlighting unfinished public projects and calling for accountability regarding the misuse of taxpayer money.

He achieves this by creating and sharing brief videos on social media, which have sparked significant responses.

His activism has garnered over 200,000 followers on his X account, with some individuals contributing funds to back his efforts.

Through various initiatives, he has worked to promote educational opportunities for marginalized communities, arguing that access to quality education is a fundamental right and a critical driver of national development.

Moreover, Kebaso has focused on health issues, championing access to affordable healthcare and mental health support.

His advocacy has sparked conversations about public health policies and the need for more robust systems to address the challenges faced by Kenyans, particularly in rural areas.

The political aspirations

As his activism gains traction, Kebaso’s aspirations for a political role are becoming increasingly evident.

He is positioning himself as a candidate who can bridge the gap between the political elite and the ordinary citizen.

His candidacy promises to bring a fresh perspective to the political landscape, one rooted in accountability, integrity, and a genuine commitment to service.

Kebaso’s campaign strategy is characterized by its inclusivity. He seeks to involve various community stakeholders in the decision-making process, recognizing that true change must come from the bottom up.

His approach contrasts sharply with traditional political practices that often alienate constituents and prioritize self-interest.

Building a movement

Morara Kebaso’s activism has fostered a growing movement advocating for change in Kenya. He has mobilized thousands through social media campaigns, community forums, and public rallies, creating a sense of solidarity among those who seek a brighter future.

This movement transcends ethnic and socio-economic divides, uniting Kenyans under a common cause: the desire for a just, equitable, and prosperous nation.

His ability to articulate the frustrations and hopes of Kenyans resonates deeply with many, making him a formidable figure in the political arena.

Recently, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) officially approved the name reservation of his new political party, the Inclusion of National Justice Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT).

This progress marks an important milestone in the party’s journey toward complete registration, as outlined in a letter dated September 27, 2024, sent to Morara Kebaso’s attorney, Brian Pareno Solonka, who is representing the party.

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) has reserved the name “INJECT” for a duration of up to 90 days from the date of the letter, enabling the party to advance with the subsequent phases of the political registration process.

“INJECT Party of Kenya will sweep Parliament, Senate and all elective seats like a flash flood. People of Kenya, You are welcome to your office in Kahawa Sukari, Kiu River Road, 6th South Avenue. Pamoja Tujenge Chama.”
