Uganda Cranes eye crucial win over South Sudan to boost AFCON 2025 hopes
Uganda Cranes aim to extend unbeaten run in AFCON qualifiers against South Sudan.

Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Uganda Cranes head coach, Paul Joseph Put, has emphasized that his squad is determined to put on a strong display against South Sudan’s Bright Stars as they aim to extend their unbeaten streak in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

With the top two teams from each group securing automatic qualification for the AFCON tournament in Morocco, Uganda is fully focused on maximizing their chances with a win at home in today’s match.

“We are playing at home, and if we want to qualify for AFCON, then we have to get results. The players know they need to have engagement and concentration like they did in the other games,” said Put.

Following several days of training at Namboole, team captain Khalid Aucho shared his optimism about the upcoming derby match. “The team is in a good position, and all the players are fine. It’s a derby, so it will be a tough one. I know the boys will do a good job,” Aucho noted.

Tickets for the match are priced at UGX 25,000 for standard admission, UGX 50,000 for VIP, and UGX 150,000 for platinum. South Sudan’s Bright Stars will host the return leg on Tuesday at Juba National Stadium.
