Apple rolls out ‘Apple Intelligence’ across premium iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices

Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | On Monday, Apple introduced its first suite of artificial intelligence tools, called “Apple Intelligence,” available across its high-end iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

This launch represents Apple’s significant entry into the world of generative AI, a technology already being rapidly adopted by major tech players.

Originally previewed by Apple in June, the new features reflect the company’s commitment to generative AI, placing it in direct competition with industry giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.

All four companies view AI as a transformative force in computing and are investing heavily to secure their positions in this evolving field.

“Apple Intelligence is generative AI in a way that only Apple can deliver, and we’re incredibly excited about its ability to enrich our users’ lives,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a blog post.

Apple’s new “Apple Intelligence” features bring a range of advanced AI capabilities to its latest iPhone, iPad, and iMac devices. The enhancements include upgraded writing tools, improved photo search, and a more conversational Siri.

By December, Apple plans to integrate ChatGPT-style functionality, allowing users to generate custom emoji and create images from text descriptions.

Currently, these tools are available exclusively in US English, with support for additional languages—such as Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Korean—slated for release next year.

Among the standout features are system-wide writing aids that can edit and proofread text, along with advanced photo editing capabilities that let users remove unwanted objects from images.

These updates align with recent AI advancements from other major tech players, including Meta, Microsoft, and Google.

Apple is also addressing concerns around AI safety by ensuring its technology prioritizes user privacy. Many AI processes are handled on-device, while others use Apple’s new “Private Cloud Compute” system, designed to keep user data secure within the Apple ecosystem and maintain a high standard of data privacy.
