Nairobi, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | Kenyan President William Ruto has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States.
In a remarkable return to political prominence, Trump triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris, a result that has reverberated across the globe.
Taking to X on Wednesday, Ruto praised the American voters’ choice, highlighting the strong trust they have placed in Trump. Ruto also commended Trump’s leadership qualities, emphasizing his appreciation for the president-elect’s proven dedication to serving the American people.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya and on my own behalf, I convey to Your Excellency, my warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” said Ruto.
“Your victory is a testament to the firm resolve of the American people to repose confidence in your visionary, bold and innovative leadership,” he added.
Ruto also emphasized Kenya’s eagerness to strengthen its partnership with the United States, with a focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, technology and innovation, peace and security, and sustainable development.
“Kenya values its longstanding partnership with the United States spanning over sixty years grounded in our shared values of democracy, development and mutual respect. We look forward to deepening our collaboration under your leadership as we work together to address global challenges, promote peace and security and foster inclusive economic growth for the benefit of our peoples,” said Ruto.

“Congratulations once again Mr. President-Elect, and may your tenure bring continued progress and unity to the United States of America and strengthen the bonds between our two great nations. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
Trump has made history as the first U.S. president in over a century to secure a non-consecutive second term in office. Uniquely, he is also the only individual to be elected while facing a criminal conviction, with sentencing for a fraud case scheduled in a New York court on November 26.
At 78, Trump is poised to set another milestone, becoming the oldest sitting president during his term, surpassing President Joe Biden, who will step down in January at 82.
